AI Workbench: Building, Sharing, and Learning at Boston College

The AI Workbench is a community of practice for those who want to go beyond AI chatbots to more customized applications of AI.

It’s designed to be an emergent for sharing practical experiments and building skills by learning from each other in hands-on ways

This is meant to serve as a follow-up from workshops such as the AI Test Kitchen or NotebookLM Sandbox.

Goals

  • Sharing: Working with the garage door down and learning from each other
  • Skill Development: Training to build the skills necessary to work with AI ethically, critically, and reflectively
  • Culture-building: Inviting a broader range of people to become makers who actively shape the future of AI

Possible Formats

  • Peer instructions – someone teaches others how to do what they’ve done
  • Workshopping – come with a work in progress or a project concept and get into small groups to workshop
  • Lightening talks – share projects and decide as a group what people want to learn how to do

After the session, we plan to summarize the meeting’s takeaways and share them with those who didn’t attend.

Possible Applications

  • Apps for learning
  • AI-assisted coding
  • Data and research
  • Workflow automation
  • AI-assisted note-taking/personal knowledge management
  • Content Management

Schedule

  • Our first meeting will be July 13th on Zoom
