AI Learning Exchange

The AI Learning Exchange is a community of practice for exploring the capabilities and limitations of AI in the higher education context.

The goal is to experiment with both AI and the format for collaboration, since our formats for working together and sharing information need to evolve along with AI.

This is meant to serve as a follow-up from workshops such as the AI Test Kitchen or NotebookLM Sandbox, but it’s also for anyone experimenting directly with AI or interested in learning form others.

Why This Community?

We’ve been hearing from many in the BC community that we have some common challenges:

  • Knowing What’s Possible (and Not Possible): We want to gain insights from concrete use cases at BC.
  • Keeping up: We need help staying informed about the changes in AI
  • Getting Feedback: We’d like to have a place to workshop project ideas

The word “Learning” in the name has three important meanings:

  • Exploring the role of AI in supporting learning in higher education
  • Learning about AI through practical experimentation
  • Learning from each other through sharing and reflection

Our Goals

  • Gather what we know to make it easier to keep up with AI as it evolves
  • Learn from what others have tried and provide a way for us to reflect on their experiences together
  • Workshop ideas for AI projects or assignments with others
  • Experiment with the format as we figure out what works best

Format and Schedule

Format

As an initial format, we plan to meet roughly every three weeks over Zoom for an hour on Fridays at 2:00.

  • Updates on new developments in AI, both in general and BC-specific tools
  • 1-2 presentations of experiments or use cases
  • Break-out sessions based on affinity groups to share in more detail or workshop ideas.

Registrations will be session-by-session, so feel free to come when you can or just lurk by following the emails we send after each meeting with notes and session recordings.

After the session, we would summarize the meeting’s takeaways and share them with those who didn’t attend.

We assume format will evolve as we begin meeting, so we’ll be looking for input from the group as we discuss what’s helpful and what we could do differently.

Schedule

These are the times we’ll be meeting on Zoom to get started this semester:

  • Friday, November 14, 2025 – 2:00-3:00 (optional discussion until 3:30)
