Before beginning to use the new DesignPLUS sidebar, you’ll need to run the upgrade tool to convert content created in the old version.
Note: This page is for upgrading individual pages. If you have an entire Canvas site that needs to be upgraded, we recommend using the Course Upgrade tool.

Instructions
1. Click “Edit”
To begin, click the edit button in the upper right portion of the Canvas page.
2. Open the DesignPLUS sidebar (if it’s not open already)
If you haven’t opened DesignPLUS yet, you can use the shortcut Ctrl + 1 to open the sidebar
3. Click the Upgrade Button
Once the sidebar is open, click on the tab with an arrow pointing up to check if the page has legacy elements from the old Design Tools.
4. Click “Go to the Upgrade tool”
If your page has legacy elements, you will be presented with the option of going to the upgrade tool. Click the yellow button indicated in order to move directly to the tool.
5. Minimize the notifications tab
The pop up window will remain open after clicking “Go to the Upgrade Tool.” To close it, navigate to the tab containing the small bell in the upper right, and click to minimize.
6. Click “Upgrade All Items”
Once in the Upgrade page, click the button to upgrade all items on the page.
7. Click “Save”
Once all upgrades are complete, the Upgrades page will read “No upgrades detected.” Finally, click “Save” at the bottom right of the Canvas page to ensure all changes are saved.
