Canvas Accessibility Checker (UDOIT)

UDOIT is an accessibility auditing tool that scans your Canvas course and helps fix accessibility issues that could get in the way of student learning.

Overview

The UDOIT scans courses for content types such as:

  • Announcements
  • Assignments
  • Discussions
  • Pages
  • Syllabus
  • Modules

It then examines content for the appropriate use of:

  • Headings in page structure
  • Alternative text for images
  • Table headers
  • Color contrast
  • Video captions

Reports include easy-to-understand universal design best practices.

UDOIT identifies errors and offers suggestions to make your content more accessible while the UFIXIT tool makes it easy to fix accessibility errors without leaving the UDOIT interface in Canvas.

Locating the Accessibility Checker

You can find a link to the Accessibility Check in the left Canvas menu, usually at the top.
If you don’t see it, you may need to enable it in Settings > Navigation.
